Important note for Office 365 subscriptions: After September 22, 2016, Office 2011 for Mac is no longer available for installation with an Office 365 subscription. This doesn't affect one-time purchases of Office for Mac 2011 such as, Office Home and Student, Office Home and Business, or Office Professional. I've subscibed Office 365 Personal and it says that I can use it only on one PC/Mac. But today when I tried to install Office on my Mac, I find that I can use it on my PC and Mac at the same time. And my office account profile page shows that I used 2 installs and they are both activated. Familiarity, compatibility and a rich set of features for power users are the main benefits of opting for Office on your Mac. If your office is a Microsoft shop it will probably be easiest to use.

Step 1: Download the Install
Once you download the 2.6GB file to your downloads folder, click on the Office Preview Package to get started. You will be guided through the necessary steps to install this software.

I also had some internet interruptions on my initial download to my downloads folder and had a hard time opening the package because it did not download the full 2.6GB. Make sure that you fully downloaded the package.
